Like the kids but not just like the kids, adults too need a place where they are welcome to learn a new skill or sport, get fit for the first time, maintain a fitness program or challenge themselves to reach their next fitness level.
In terms of physical plant, the Y offers one of the best local collections of cardio equipment, the gamut of free weights and machines, a full-size basketball court and a smaller gym with adjustable hoop heights, a wood-floor aerobic/dance studio, a full-size swimming pool, an indoor track and just outside the doors there are miles of outdoor running lanes. In terms of people support, we offer a professional staff focused on your total well-being, personal trainers, certified physical therapists and the fun of your peers. No matter whether you’re working out on your own, as part of a group class or with a personal trainer, you’ll experience camaraderie and encouragement. And after your workout, the hot tubs and sauna feel good and the locker room showers are clean and hot.
Adults at the Y also spend time with their kids—on the basketball court, in the Kid’s Gym, in the swimming pool or maybe getting bested in foosball. They also take music lessons and join performance groups. They volunteer and share their skills and spirits on one-time events, season-long youth leagues or with Special Olympians.
So no matter whether you’re a 20-something student, a parent with a child in the drop-in Child Watch Center, a working professional or a retired senior … no matter whether you’ve finally decided to learn to swim or you’re training for an Ironman Triathalon, there’s something here for you.
