About Us

Strategic Plan

At the Missoula Family YMCA, our reason for being is an important one: strengthening kids, families and our community so that they (and we) can all live up to their (and our) full potentials. It may sound lofty, but actually it happens every day—especially with dedicated people and a solid plan.

This plan consists of four main objectives. We like to think of them as promises—a pledge we make to you, our members and our community to:

  1. Promote and support healthy lifestyles
  2. Support families and help youth develop to his and her fullest potential
  3. Strengthen communities through leadership
  4. Build support through strong and lasting friendships

Annual Report

Our MISSION is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Every day. For every one. No matter a person’s personal economic situation; no matter the economic situation of the greater Missoula region.

Again in 2011, while undergoing a change of leadership in the CEO office, your Missoula Family YMCA IMPACTed families and individuals in a most meaningful way.

Families and individuals grew stronger at the Y in 2011. They worked out in group exercise classes or on the weight machines or on the soccer fields. They learned a new musical instrument or how to swim better. They connected with fellow members, teammates and staff people. With additional—and significant—community support, our new Active 6 program grew in both numbers and programming, getting and keeping +300 young middle school kids physically active and engaged in positive activities. To meet critical community needs, the Y last year added a third licensed child care center, located at 2120 Earnest Avenue.

Supported by endowment fundraising and our Partners with Youth campaign, your Y continued in 2011 to provide the financial assistance needed to keep our promise that no one is turned away because of money. Given the continuing recession economy, this was no easy task and everyone should be proud.

We are proud of our evolution and look forward to a 2012 fiscal year of continued solid progress in our mission—for youth development, for healthy living and social responsibility—and our impact—every day, for every one.
