Here at the Y, we're committed to safety. We are proud to offer certifications for lifeguarding and CPR to our community.

Ages 12+

This is an American Heart Association CPR certification. Courses are offered once a month and taught by a certified CPR instructor. Please note that courses require a minimum number of participants to run.

Ages 15+

Prepare to work as a lifeguard by receiving your American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. All classes are mandatory. Please note that this class has seven hours of required online course work. Successful candidates will receive certificates in lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Candidates must be 15 years old on or before the final day of class.

This course is offered selectively throughout the year. Classes require at least four participants. Contact Joann Kump at jkump@ymcamissoula.org for information on courses or how to request one.

 

Certification Fee:

  • Full Certification $210 (includes online training manual)
  • Recertification $150 (includes online training manual)

Ages 13+

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Each participant must be able to demonstrate a primary assessment and one cycle of CPR (breaths and compressions) on the ground one time during the course. All other practice and scenarios or CPR skills may be done on a raised surface.

Candidates must be 13 years old on or before the final day of class.
