Certifications

 

Here at the Y, we're committed to safety. We are proud to offer certifications for lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid to our community.

 

At a Glance:

  • Registration is open to the general public
  • Discounts are available for most certifications for participants with Y Family and Household Memberships

 

CPR Certification

Ages 12+

This is an American Heart Association CPR certification. Courses are held twice a month at the Y and taught by a certified CPR instructor.

 

At a Glance:

  • Offered one Tuesday and one Thursday a month from 6:15–9:15 p.m.

First Aid Certification

Ages 12+

This is an American Red Cross first aid certification. Courses are held once a month at the Y and taught by a certified first aid instructor.

  • Offered one Monday a month from 6:15–8:00 p.m.

Lifeguarding Certification

Ages 15+

Prepare to work as a lifeguard by receiving your American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. All classes are mandatory. Please note that this class has seven hours of required online course work. Successful candidates will receive certificates in lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Candidates must be 15 years old on or before the final day of class.

This course is offered selectively throughout the year. Classes require at least four participants. Contact Joann Kump at jkump@ymcamissoula.org for information on courses or how to request one.

 

Certification Fee:

$142 (includes training manual and CPR mask)
