Certifications

 

Here at the Y, we're committed to safety. We are proud to offer certifications for lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid to our community.

Looking for an instructor to come to your business or organization? Onsite CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard courses taught by certified instructors are available. Contact Joann Kump for information on course fees and scheduling.

  • Registration is open to the general public
  • Onsite courses available for Missoula-area businesses and organizations
  • Discounts are available for most certifications for participants with Y Memberships

 

Ages 12+

This is an American Heart Association CPR certification. Courses are held once a month at the Y, usually on Thursdays, and taught by a certified CPR instructor.

  • Offered one Tuesday and one Thursday a month from 6:15–9:15 p.m.

Ages 12+

This is an American Red Cross first aid certification. Courses are held once a month at the Y, usually on Wednesdays, and taught by a certified first aid instructor.

  • Offered one Monday a month from 6:15–8:00 p.m.

Ages 15+

Prepare to work as a lifeguard by receiving your American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. All classes are mandatory. Please note that this class has seven hours of required online course work. Successful candidates will receive certificates in lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Candidates must be 15 years old on or before the final day of class.

This course is offered selectively throughout the year. Classes require at least four participants. Contact Joann Kump at jkump@ymcamissoula.org for information on courses or how to request one.

$145 (includes training manual and CPR mask)
