Youth Climbing Clubs

Ages 7–14

YMCA Youth Climbing Clubs are for youth climbers of all skill levels. We have two clubs to help youth climbers learn the basics, or improve their skills. Climbing Clubs teach belay systems and basic climbing knots, and help climbers develop their technique with individualized instruction. Low enrollment caps are in place to ensure climbers spend plenty of time on the wall.

At a Glance:

  • Offered monthly (September-May)
  • Sessions include four 2-hour practices per month (8 hours total)
  • Led by belay-certified instructors
  • Discounts are available for active Y members

Ages 7–14

YMCA Junior Climbing Club is for youth with little to no climbing experience. We will help youth build confidence on the wall alongside friends. Junior Climbing Club familiarizes beginning climbers with how to tie in, belay team communication, and the process of belay. Ideal for youth interested in joining YMCA Climbing Club who have not yet learned belay or basic climbing knot work, or who are just looking for a social outlet at the climbing wall.

Ages 9–14

YMCA Climbing Club is for experienced youth climbers already familiar with belay systems and basic climbing knots. Climbing Club helps climbers develop their technique with individualized instruction. Low enrollment caps are in place to ensure climbers spend plenty of time on the wall.
