Missoulian | Missoula YMCA Breaks Ground on New 4M Child Care Center

The Missoula Family YMCA held a groundbreaking on Thursday for the new $4 million Phyllis Washington Early Child Care Center. The new facility at the Y's Russell Street campus is just the first phase of construction for its Here for Good capital campaign, a multiyear effort to raise $19.3 million to completely revamp the campus.

The organization this week said it had raised $11.8 million in its goal to collect $15 million in its Here for Good campaign. That leaves just $200,000 left outstanding.

The Missoula Family YMCA is looking to break the $12 million mark in its revitalization campaign. Since September 2021 the YMCA privately raised $11.8 million. The Missoula Family YMCA's drive to raise funds for an expanded facility received a large boost from the Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation on Friday, pushing the organization closer to its fundraising goals.The foundation's $2 million gift, made in support the YMCA Here for Good capital campaign, will help fund the construction of a new childcare building on the Russell Street campus next spring. “My kids grew up playing at the Missoula Y and we want to make sure younger generations of Missoula kids have a safe space to grow, learn and thrive,” Phyllis Washington said in an announcement.

Montana Right Now | YMCA Inches Closer to Fundraising Goal for Major Renovations

The YMCA continues to fundraise towards a total of $15 million dollars to completely revamp its campus. According to Missoula County YMCA CEO Heather Foster, the main priority for this project is to better serve all Missoulians as the community grows, starting from infancy to older seniors with lower mobility. One of the major focuses will be addressing childcare shortages with a brand-new child care center, Foster shared. The new center would more than double the YMCA's capacity for infant care to 36 children under the age of 2.

Politics 406 | Missoula YMCA Unveils Plans for $15M Expansion Project

After years of planning and public input, the Missoula Family YMCA on Thursday finally unveiled plans for a $15 million expansion project for its headquarters at 3000 S. Russell Street. In addition to remodeling every square inch of its current facility, the Y plans to build a brand-new, 7,000-square-foot, $4 million early child care facility. It will be able to serve about 100 kids. Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2023. The current little yellow building on the campus serves kids ages 6 weeks to about 3 but has seen soaring demand over the years.

The Missoula YMCA kicked off the public phase of its Here for Good campaign on Thursday with an event at the Missoula County Fairgrounds.The campaign is a $15 million project designed to make improvements to the YMCA campus on South Russell Street. Over the last year, the group has been privately fundraising for improvements and $11 million has been raised during the initial stages of the campaign.

A YMCA fundraising campaign is underway in Missoula -- it's called the "Here For Good" capital campaign. The goal is to raise money for a $15 million project to update the Y’s Russell Street campus and make several upgrades, including a new child care facility, youth innovation center and fitness studio.Thursday night’s celebration featured music, food trucks and a bounce house for the kids.The campaign started a year ago, and so far organizers have raised $11 million.
